For Strength of Youth Malaysia and Orangutans on Borneo

Image
All of the youth from Malaysia and Singapore came together for FSY in Kuching the week before Christmas. Five days of making new friends, learning, planning for the future, and fun activities. We are here so that we can write a story for the Malaysia Newsroom. We have lots of pictures and stories which we will compile into a brief news report. We know how Mormon feels now trying to condense so much down to so little. Here are a couple more pictures of these beautiful youth. There is an orangutan preserve near Kuching. We arrived one day early and went out to see them but it is fruiting season so they don't come to the feedings sometimes because there is plenty of their favorite fruits in the jungle. This female, Saduku, is the only one that we found. She is 51 years old and is the oldest orangutan in this location. I am writing this post on Christmas eve so I will post the three little Christmas-themed watercolors that I made while in Jakarta and Malaysia. Then a little Christmas n

Temporarily Transferred to Kuala Lumpur Malaysia

We moved from the big city of Jakarta Indonesia to the big city of Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. Due to new legal requirements in Indonesia, the senior missionaries can only stay for 6 months at a time. We will spend the next six months here in Malaysia doing the same type of communications work we did in Indonesia and then we will move back to Jakarta for the last six months of our mission. They are members of the communication council for Malaysia. We are standing in front of a large building which houses the mission offices and also a Church in the lower floor. (building still under construction a little bit) There are a lot more senior missionaries he

Our Sunday School Class and new Sister Missionaries

We have had the great privilege, during the past few weeks, of teaching a small Sunday School class on Teaching in the Savior's Way. This is Brother Michael and Brother Mahdi from Afghanistan and Iran. Our third student, Sadia, was not feeling well today so she did not attend. All three of them are here as refugees. They have all been here for several years awaiting permanent relocation to host countries. We have grown to love them dearly and will miss them. We are very humbled by their faith, patience and continual optimism. This week we will leave Indonesia for 6 months because of a new legal requirement here. We will serve the next six months in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia as communications specialists and then return to Indonesian for the last six months of our mission. These four brand new Sister Missionaries just arrived from the MTC in Manila. We were asked to pick them up from the airport. Three of them are Indonesian and one is from the Philippines. They are truly a joy to be
