Our Sunday School Class and new Sister Missionaries

We have had the great privilege, during the past few weeks, of teaching a small Sunday School class on Teaching in the Savior's Way. This is Brother Michael and Brother Mahdi from Afghanistan and Iran. Our third student, Sadia, was not feeling well today so she did not attend. All three of them are here as refugees. They have all been here for several years awaiting permanent relocation to host countries. We have grown to love them dearly and will miss them. We are very humbled by their faith, patience and continual optimism. This week we will leave Indonesia for 6 months because of a new legal requirement here. We will serve the next six months in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia as communications specialists and then return to Indonesian for the last six months of our mission.
These four brand new Sister Missionaries just arrived from the MTC in Manila. We were asked to pick them up from the airport. Three of them are Indonesian and one is from the Philippines. They are truly a joy to be with and we are excited for them as they start their missions in Indonesia.
In all, the mission received 10 new young missionaries in the last two days. Here they all are, pictured in the mission home at Jl. Senopati with Sister and President Tandiman as bookends. What a blessing it is to have them serving here. Indonesia is not an easy place to serve a mission. The language is hard, the food is different, its hot and humid, many of them will endure sicknesses while they are here. But they will do a great work and change many lives for the better. Their own lives will be changed forever. We are so very grateful for them.
We also have a wonderful new senior couple, Elder and Sister Wallwork, from Idaho. This picture was taking in our office area which is upstairs from the mission home. The office staff put up a Christmas tree. This picture includes some of the young Elders who happened to be in the office. When we leave the Wallworks will be on the only senior couple in Jakarta for a while. They have a lot of responsibility but they are excited to serve and have experience from serving a previous mission in Cambodia.
